Episode 8: Howard Cole from High Country Flies tells us to go up a size when trying to get a trout to rise in the Jackson Hole area.

Listen Now
Howard Cole is the manager of High Country Flies in Jackson Hole, as well as a tier at the Eastern Idaho Fly Fishing Convention. One of the things I learned form talking to Howard is that most FFr's visiting the Jackson area make the same mistake by dropping down a size or two when trying to match a hatch. His approach that he teaches is to go up a size and use an attractor pattern.

Plus, he gives a break down of all the main rivers an tributaries in the area. So, if you're going to be headed to the Jackson area for a family vacation or whatever, you need to listen to this first.

The fly of the week this week is the Pheasant Tail.

Hook: Size 12-16 Nymph hook
Body: Pheasant Tail fibers tied in by the tips and wrapped forward
Tail: Pheasant tail fibers
Legs: Tips of the wing case fibers tied down and back
Thorax: Peacock Herl
Wing case: Pheasant tail fibers
