Episode 9: Jim Jones ( JJ ) on his streamer patterns and techniques.

Listen Now
I can't get enough information on Fly Fishing the Jackson Hole area. So, stick with me one more week while I had Howard on the line I really wanted to talk to JJ the owner of High Country Flies. He is known for his streamer expertise. In this episode JJ gives us some great information on cone head streamers vs. weighted body. Also, he tells us to think about fishing streamers in more than one dimension. His techniques give his streamer presentation a 2 dimensional presentation.

Fly of the Week:
We had to do the JJ Special for the fly of the week in honor of our guest this week. Rather than me posting the recipe here I will take you right to JJ him self on how to tie this unique streamer pattern. Remember the key to this pattern is to tie the legs vertical to give it that taller profile. As well as weight the body rather than a cone head.

Great podcasts my friends! This morning I listened to your last 3 podcasts while driving to my work (1.5 hours drive!). It was cold outside but listening to the podcast & turning up the heater made the drive a real joy!

Keep up the good work!

Jay

Ps. Any idea when the interview with a bamboo maker is coming? ;)

If you're taking ideas for shows, how about one on midwestern rivers?

Michigan is the birthplace of Trout Unlimited, the Griffith's Gnat and the venerable Adams. We also have the Au Sable River (known throughout the Midwest as "the Holy Waters") and the Pere Marquette, to name just two of the many spectacular rivers.

Glad you like the new site... A couple things, we are currently talking with anglers from the midwest, south, northeast and canada. We hope those shows will be more enjoyable to listeners in those areas.

Also, Our next show is with the most well known and respected bamboo rod builder. Glenn Beckett, formerly of Winston. I think it will be one of our best episodes yet.

Stay tuned, drive safe,
y
