Episode 22: Steve Schmidt's thoughts on conservation

Listen Now
Listening to Steve talk about protecting and building trout habitat gets me charged up to get involved with conservation. Something that really stuck with me that he said was the reason people dont get involved is because they dont feel like they can make a difference.

Everytime you go fishing, pack a few items of trash back with you. Everytime you shower, try to cut it a bit shorter or dont leave the water running while brushing your teeth. Dont over water your lawn (or sidewalk). Once we do that its easier to get more active with a local trout unlimited project.

If we dont protect our favorite fishing holes, no one will. So take his advice and get involved. No matter how small it may seem.

Not to be too heavy, and since this is a fishing show we had to talk to steve about some of his fishing adventures. Everything from Steelhead to Tarpon. Steve has fished it all. Also, being the owner of a long standing fly shop, Steve gives us some insight on how to get newbies involved in the sport.
