Episode 31: Fly Fishing for Bass in Lubbock Texas

Listen Now
Our Southwest Regional Podcaster, Matthew Lambert, PhD, has brought you another great episode. This time out of Lubbock Texas. He spends some time with Kyle Jones who owns and operates Mountain Hideaway in Lubbock (806-797-1064). Kyle and Matthew talk about a new up and coming lake called Allan Henry. Allan Henry is a superb Large Mouth Bass fishery and Kyle gives some great tips on fly fishing for Bass and how to get into this great water at Allan Henry.

Bass are often overlooked by most fly fish anglers. Hopefully after listening to Kyle and Matthew you will start looking for water in your area to make a cast to a bass or two. They are hard to catch and will give you a fantastic battle.

One of the flies that Kyle is partial to using is a modified zonker. He also uses various streamers and Klousers with success.

We will be posting the recipe and photo of the modified zonker as soon as we get it ready.

If you have any questions for Matthew you can reach him at melphd1@melphd.com

If any of you have any Fly Fishing for bass photos or stories to share we would love to see them. Go to flyfishblogger.com and post your pics and stories there.
