Episode 15: Jack Dennis on the US Fly Fishing Team and the European Nymphing Technique

Listen Now
We spent some time at the International Sportsmans Expo and was very honored to meet Jack Dennis and have him on the show. Obviously Jack is very knowledgeable on the sport but, there may be a lot of you who don't know that he is heading up the US Fly Fishing Team. Competition is something Jack is very passionate about and in this interview he talks about the team, and the process the team will go through to get to the World Fly Fishing Tournament.

After we talked to Jack we bring Lance Egan back on the show to talk about the competitions from a team members perspective. Also, more information on how to fish the euopean nymphing technique.

If you're not interested in the team, this episode is still very worth the time to download because I learned an interesting new (well, new to me) nymphing technique. European nymphing is done with no indicators and no split shot. And once you get the hang of it you will hook up a lot more fish than with the usual indicator nymphing. I can't wait to try it out!

For more information on competing or volunteering at various team trials you can visit these web sites.

Episode 14: We finally get east of the rockies to talk to Dirk Fischbach

Listen Now
Yaaayy! We finally get a chance to go east of the Rockies and talk to Dirk Fischbach from Michigan.

I apologize for the delay. We have been working hard on getting some videos online for you to help us test. Go to the videos section of the site and let us know how it worked or didn't work for you.

Dirk has written 2 books on fly fishing. One is called "The Fly Fisher's Huron: A Practical Guide to Michigan's Blue-Ribbon Smallmouth River". And the other one is due out later this spring.

I was impressed and maybe even a little jealous of all the different species that Michigan has to offer Fly Fish Anglers. Dirk breaks it all down for us in this interview and gives us some great insight into fly fishing for smallmouth bass.

He have some other guest form the east lined up so stay tuned.

Also, We are looking for guest host to be on the show with us on a semi-regular basis. If you are a fly fish fanatic from the Northeast, South, Midwest, Southwest, Rockies or Northwest we want to talk to you about being a part of the show. Email us at info@flyfishradio.com
